Today’s Holy Hustle Review
Work Hard
BJD Photography
Yesterday, I actually caught the books up for the photography business. My background is actually in accounting and finance so I’ve always done the books for the business (and for our nonprofit business, as well). I’m not a CPA and have no desire to ever become one but I do enjoy basic bookkeeping, financial management and accounting. However, because my life’s been a little nuts, I haven’t stayed on top of the books like I should. The last time I’d updated them was in May (yikes!). As such, it took me a few hours to get everything entered. I still have a little cleanup to do and I need to track down all of my receipts BUT it feels really good to have this task almost completed!
Today, I worked a lot on the website. It needed to be updated with fresh images and such. Go check it out and let me know what you think!
I also created a Facebook Ad for my newborn photography. These always make me nervous but I gotta get some business coming in so I got one created. Facebook hasn’t approved it yet but I’m hoping they’ll do that soon so it can start running!
And, finally, I picked up a lens I’m renting for the event I am shooting tomorrow night. It’s a 16-35mm and I’m hoping it’ll give me some fun perspective as a wide angle! Fingers crossed.
Just Your Average Jo
I missed yesterday’s post but I’m getting today’s done! I’ve not done any other work on the blog as I’ve really focused on the photography business today.
Rest Well
Worship
I got my BSF lesson done today. Looks like I’ll need to do yesterday’s over again. I was looking at the wrong set of lesson notes yesterday morning. Oh well, it’s still good information. We’re learning about Joshua and his conquering of Canaan. I hope I can “immediately” obey the Lord when He commands me to do something like Joshua did. I mean, to have that kind of faith and obedience, even when what you’re being asked to do doesn’t make sense, man … that’s something else.
Yesterday’s 21 Days of Prayer for Your Business video was on finding freedom from the past. I think it’ll take time to actually get that freedom, whatever freedom I might need, but it was a good reminder that I don’t have to stay where I’m at today. Personally or professionally. Mistakes and failures of the past do not have to determine my future. The Lord is bigger than that and I am willing to let Him reveal anything I may be held captive by that is preventing me from reaching the potential He sees in me.
Today’s 21 Days video is about finding what makes me unique. And I’m about to watch and pray about that in…oh, say, 20 minutes or so. 🙂
Holy Hustle?
I think I did better today. It helped that I didn’t have any “connecting with others” on the calendar. I’ll have to figure out whether or not to temper those sessions and be really mindful of time running away from me or if I should just trust that everything that needs to get done will get done, regardless of how much time I’m spending connecting.
Overall, I think my first week of discovering the holy hustle balance in this new life of mine went well. I have lots to learn still and am not sure I’ve “hit the nail on the head” with it all yet. But I got things done and feel good about the week.
